Atlas Group President Dr Duško Knežević will participate at the 10th Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting 2014 (CGI) in New York, September 21-24.

President Bill Clinton, Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton announced new participants for the 10th Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting, to be held September 21-24 in New York City, including 45 current and former heads of state, and more than 1,000 of the most influential leaders from business, government, civil society and philanthropy sectors.
 
As announced, participants at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting include the most influential individuals from business, government, civil society and philanthropy: President Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States, His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein  and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan , Mary Barra, Chief Executive Officer, General Motors Company; Matt Damon, Co-founder, Water.org; Melinda French Gates, Co-chair and Trustee, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Jim Yong Kim, President, World Bank Group; Luis Alberto Moreno, President, Inter-American Development Bank.
 
CGI will open on Sunday, September 21st with the Clinton Global Citizen Awards, which honors outstanding individuals in civil society, philanthropy, public service, and the private sector for impact in addressing global challenges. Among this year’s CGI Laureates are Atifete Jahjaga, President of the Republic of Kosovo and Leonardo DiCaprio, Founder of Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and UN Messenger of Peace with a special focus on climate change.
 
Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, convenes global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 180 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media. To date, members of the CGI community have made more than 2,900 commitments, which are already improving the lives of more than 430 million people in over 180 countries.

This fundamental concept of Clinton Global Initiative was also promoted in Montenegro in May last year when, invited by Knežević as CGI member, Clinton visited Montenegro and participated at the Inaugural Conference “Balkan Networking for Social Empowerment of South-Eastern Europe”, organized by the Government of Montenegro and Atlas Foundation.  Knežević became CGI member in 2010. In the previous Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meetings participated the Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović in 2013 and Dr Igor Lukšić in 2011.
