President of Slovenia Borut Pahor, talking with members of Summit100 business leaders of the region, stressed the importance of regional cooperation and added that, in this respect, the political support is very important.

The president of Atlas Group Duško Knežević, who is ahead of Montenegro, a member of the Board of Directors of Summit100, also attended a meeting with Pahor.

The meeting was devoted to preparation for the largest gathering of business leaders Summit100 of South East Europe, which will be held this year on June 1st and 2nd in Portoroz, Slovenia. The main topic of the meeting is the possibility of regional cooperation in the fields of energetics, tourism, transport and infrastructure and the financial sector.

President of Slovenia Borut Pahor said that the Summit100 is very important initiative for modernization of the region and it is important to focus on the economy and politics. "That's why we have given full support to the region for this project, and we will do our part, such as the harmonization of legislation, resolving political issues, while on the other hand, businessmen are expected to do their part. In the Summit 100  I recognize the optimism and active efforts for development. It is important that this region shows the ability to provide progress by its own efforts, because it has a lot to offer" he said.

Iztok Seljak, Chairman of the Board of Summit100, stressed that it is the right time to work on specific projects, particularly the establishment of the transport network.

The participation of hundreds of business leaders in the region is expected at the Summit, the activities will be divided into sessions, and at the panel on the development of so-called smart cities participation has been confirmed by the European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc.

Summit100 of business leaders is an initiative launched in 2011 by the Serbian Association of Managers, Croatian Employers' Association and the Association of Slovenian manager and soon after the it was supported also the Atlas Foundation. The main objective of this initiative is to provide networking of entrepreneurs in the region through partnerships and intensive cooperation, to improve the competitiveness of the region by attracting foreign direct investment and access to third markets.

The first annual meeting was held in October 2011 in Arandjelovac, second in Becici in May 2013 and the third in Cavtat in July 2014.
